Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia to Miss World Series 2025 as He & Pregnant Wife Kayla Deal with 'Deeply Personal Family Matter'

Alex Vesia will not be joining his Los Angeles Dodgers teammates at the 2025 World Series.

Ahead of Game 1 of the series, the Dodgers announced on Thursday (October 23) that the 29-year-old pitcher is stepping away from the team as he and his pregnant wife Kayla deal with a “deeply personal family matter.”

Keep reading to find out more…“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the team wrote on X. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

Kayla has been documenting her pregnancy on social media and her last Instagram post was shared on October 19.

In a press conference, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was asked about Vesia stepping away from the World Series.

“I think right now we’re in the mode of trying to understand the process, the rules — a way that we can sort of try to navigate the roster,” Roberts said. “We’re going through the process of trying to backfill his spot on the roster.”

The L.A. Dodgers will be facing off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2025 World Series. Game 1 takes place on Friday, October 24 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
