In the wake of her husband Carl Thomas Dean‘s passing, the legendary singer shared heartfelt guidance with friends Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire, as they grieve the loss of Brandon Blackstock, who was both Kelly’s former husband and Reba’s stepson.
“It’s essential to be thankful for the moments you’ve shared with someone,” Dolly expressed during her interview with Entertainment Tonight, which aired on August 12. “Focus on remembering the most beautiful times spent together. Take the energy they imparted to you and allow it to become a part of who you are moving forward.”

Brandon, who was a devoted father to River Rose Blackstock, 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander Blackstock, 9, with Kelly, sadly passed away at the age of 48 due to natural causes linked to melanoma on August 7. His passing occurred while he was “surrounded by his family,” as confirmed by Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis in a statement to E! News.
In the aftermath of his death, many of Brandon’s friends and family members paid touching tributes to the esteemed music producer, including his son Seth Blackstock, whom Brandon had with his former wife Melissa Ashworth, along with his daughter Savannah Blackstock.
