Don Felder Joining Eagles at Sphere? Uncertain Future

Don Felder, the former member of the legendary rock band Eagles, recently shared that he currently enjoys a positive relationship with his past bandmates. However, he clarified that fans should not expect to see him joining them for any of the upcoming Sphere residency shows. When asked about a potential surprise performance during the Sirius XM interview with host Eddie Trunk, Felder quipped, “I’ll tell you this, I’m not holding my breath.” He emphasized that while he hasn’t received an invitation to participate in the residency, if Don Henley were to reach out, he would “absolutely” consider the opportunity to reunite.

Felder’s journey with the Eagles spanned from 1974 to 2001, during which the band achieved remarkable commercial success. This period included a significant hiatus from 1980 to 1994, which saw the group take a break from recording and touring. The end of Felder’s time with the band was marred by disputes over compensation and alleged breaches of contract, culminating in an acrimonious split. Nevertheless, Felder expressed to Trunk that those conflicts are now part of a distant past.

Don Felder Reflects on Mending Relationships with Eagles Bandmates

Despite the tumultuous history, Felder shared, “There are times here and there along the way that we bump into each other, and we’re very cordial about it.” He elaborated on his personal growth since 2000, stating that he has effectively “buried all the hatchets.” Writing his memoir, Heaven and Hell: My Life in The Eagles, published in 2008, was a transformative experience for him. It allowed him to release long-held grudges and resentment, enabling him to embrace a more peaceful existence. Felder emphasized the importance of letting go of negativity, saying, “I want to be free of that,” reinforcing his desire to choose happiness over anger and resentment. He has focused on rebuilding his career and enjoying life.

When prompted about the potential reciprocation of his positive feelings from the other Eagles members, Felder admitted uncertainty. “I have no conversations with them about any of that,” he stated candidly. Felder is dedicated to living his life to the fullest and pursuing his passions. He expressed contentment with his current situation, saying, “I’m just very pleased that at my age I still have good health, I still have all my chops, I’m still writing, creating, producing and recording.” This summer, he is set to embark on a tour, continuing until late August, and he is eager to embrace every moment of this journey.

This summer, Felder will hit the road alongside Styx and Kevin Cronin. He is also excited about the release of his upcoming album, The Vault – 50 Years of Music, scheduled to debut on May 23.
