Nelly Highlights Unity in Response to Trump’s First 100 Days

During a recent interaction with TMZ, Nelly expressed his belief in the importance of unity when discussing Trump’s initial 100 days in office. He emphasized the need for a positive outlook amidst the political landscape.

“I’m all for everybody staying positive about any and everything. You know what I’m saying? I’m a glass-half-full type of guy, and I just am more empowered in bringing people together and making sure we all get what we need, when we need it and why we need it,” Nelly articulated.

However, it remains ambiguous what specific “positive” aspects Nelly is urging people to acknowledge concerning Trump’s administration, especially in light of significant developments such as a 145% tariff imposed on China, the elimination of approximately 280,000 federal jobs, and controversial actions taken against the Department of Education.

Nelly’s Musical Journey and Political Connections with Trump

As previously noted, Nelly and Trump have made headlines together before, particularly when Nelly performed at the president’s inaugural ball back in January. This performance sparked criticism on social media, with many users interpreting it as an implicit endorsement of Trump’s presidency. Before taking the stage, Nelly clarified his stance regarding his involvement:

“It’s not political for me. For me, the political part is over. He won, and growing up, I was taught to respect the office, so Nelly’s here,” the artist stated.

Despite the time that has passed, social media users continue to react strongly when they see Nelly’s name associated with Trump. This was evident in The Shade Room’s Instagram repost of Nelly discussing the presidency so far. Over 6,000 followers expressed their opinions, showcasing a mix of support and backlash against the artist’s comments.

@deucetyrell shared their viewpoint, stating, “Millionaire rapper tells working class not to worry because he’s still rich.”

“Choosing to ignore the constant attack on Black history and the Black community is not staying positive; it’s being cowardice,” countered @alwayz_winning.

@doctorbobby chimed in with criticism towards Nelly and another artist, asserting, “He and Snoop can stay exactly where tf they are. We good on them.”

“Staying positive and choosing to ignore what he’s doing are not the same thing,” added @foodforthought_ in response.

“Tell Nelly no, we already know what this is; choosing to ignore what is happening is wildly irresponsible,” commented @jessieo387.

“The glass has a crack at the bottom,” remarked @imchuckesq, further voicing skepticism.

@pretty_brittbrat also weighed in, writing, “Stop trying to recruit people to tap dance for a man who hates us!”

“People have lost jobs, benefits, retirement, family members because of this dude; it hasn’t even been 6 months yet,” stated @sampson_matt_ highlighting the ongoing struggles faced by many.

Analyzing Trump’s First 100 Days: Achievements and Shortcomings

As Donald Trump reaches the 100-day mark of his presidency, various media outlets, including the Associated Press, have analyzed key statistics and decisions made during this period. Trump has signed 140 executive orders, a figure that is notably close to the 162 executive orders signed by Joe Biden throughout his entire presidency. Among the most discussed topics is the implementation of a 145% tariff on imports, which has raised concerns regarding its impacts on the economy.

Inflation rates have been fluctuating, decreasing from a peak of 9.1% in 2022 to 3% in January, the month Trump took office, and further down to 2.4% by March. Trump claimed, “We already solved inflation,” but the Federal Reserve has cautioned that the president’s tariff strategies could potentially lead to increased prices on foreign imports. Furthermore, Trump’s proposed tax cuts raise concerns about revenue generation to service the national debt, a situation that has continued to escalate since his first term.

On the immigration front, Trump has made notable strides toward fulfilling his promise to tighten border control. The number of individuals attempting to cross illegally from Mexico plummeted during President Joe Biden’s first year, dropping from 249,740 in December 2023 to just 47,324 by December 2024. Under Trump, these numbers dwindled to 8,346 in February and 7,181 in March. However, it remains uncertain if Trump is mirroring Biden’s aggressive deportation strategies from the previous year, as comprehensive data is still pending.

At numerous rallies last summer, Donald Trump assured supporters that he would resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine simply by securing the presidency.

“Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after I win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled,” he stated during a National Guard Association conference in Detroit in August.

Despite making this promise repeatedly since May, it remains unfulfilled. Trump has also suggested he could quickly end the conflict in one day, a day that has yet to arrive. Additionally, since the ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas War ended in March, the toll has been severe, with over 2,000 Palestinian lives lost.
