The 2009 documentary about The Doors, When You’re Strange, is returning to theaters starting December 4, thanks to Trafalgar Releasing, as part of the band’s 60th anniversary celebration. The film has been newly remastered in 4K and features an introduction from drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger.

As Densmore shared with UCR, When You’re Strange accurately tells the story of The Doors. “Oliver Stone’s movie focused on the tortured artist, which is a compelling narrative, but it lacked much of the 60s,” he stated. “When You’re Strange captures more of that era and includes more about the band. I was also very intrigued by the director, Tom DiCillo. He reviewed all our old footage and included clips of Jim [Morrison] with a beard, hitchhiking — and he essentially became the unofficial narrator throughout the film.”

Fans will have the opportunity to see Krieger and Densmore reunite at the screenings. The duo recently collaborated to record a special performance of the Doors classic “Riders on the Storm” for the Playing for Change organization. This unique collaboration will be featured as part of the When You’re Strange theatrical event. Details regarding tickets and showtimes can be found on the film’s official website.
