In the eighth episode of Season 3 of Paranormal Prison, our guest is the hardcore punk unit Drain from Santa Cruz, California.
The band joins Josh Bernstein (The Power Hour, Z2) and Katrina Weidman, who you may recognize from the paranormal investigative TV show Portals to Hell with Jack Osbourne. Together, they explore the haunted grounds of the infamous Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, which also hosts the annual Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival.
For the third consecutive year, some of the festival’s biggest stars investigate various areas of the prison, known for its rich history of hauntings. This time, the crew has upgraded their equipment, bringing new spirit-seeking tools to enhance their investigations.
Drain plays a style of hardcore punk that is both fun-loving and mosh-positive, and that energy is evident in this latest episode. For the first time this season, the investigative team encounters apprehensive spirits who seem unsettled by the uplifting presence of frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro.
“This is not my jam, I’m so scared. I’m terrified. My wife has the crystals and the white sage at home — thank goodness! I’m so scared of this type of thing … it’s that I can’t see. The thought of not being able to see what’s around me terrifies me more than someone trying to mug me,” Ciaramitaro admits.

Weidman places a dead bell on the floor, inviting any spirits present to respond by ringing the bell once for yes and twice for no. One ding is heard as an otherworldly presence confirms its willingness to participate.
Drain’s inquiries are somewhat less serious than those seen in previous episodes — perhaps a nervous attempt to ease the tension during the ghost hunt.
Bernstein poses questions aloud, hoping to capture a vocal response via an EMF transmitter. Silence falls as inquiries about Drain’s set or whether the spirit needs to borrow some gear are made.
Ciaramitaro likely considers this limited interaction a win given how frightened he was before even entering the haunted areas of the Ohio State Reformatory.

About Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival and Danny Wimmer Presents
The Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival takes place each year at the historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield.
Construction began in 1886 and the prison operated from 1896 until 1990; it was also featured in a scene from the classic movie The Shawshank Redemption. While the prison remains open for tourism, the highlight of the year is undoubtedly when the festival arrives for a long weekend filled with rock and metal music.
Inkcarceration is one of many premier festivals organized by Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP). Since its inception in 2011, DWP has become a leading promoter in heavy music and beyond, enhancing the U.S. festival circuit that dominates during spring, summer, and fall.
The DWP festival roster also includes Aftershock, Born & Raised, Bourbon & Beyond, Golden Sky Country Music Festival, Louder Than Life, Rocklahoma, Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville.
Visit the Inkcarceration and DWP websites for more information.
