Drake Expresses Frustration Over Alex Warren’s Billboard Hot 100 Success: After the recent six-week reign of fellow artist Alex Warren on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his hit song “Ordinary,” which successfully prevented Drake’s track “What Did I Miss?” from achieving the top position, the Canadian rapper had some pointed remarks to share. The competition in the music industry remains fierce, and Drake’s reaction underscores his desire to reclaim his spot at the top.
In a candid moment on his Instagram Story dated July 14, Drizzy made his thoughts clear by stating, “Suppressor on the No. 1 spot,” alongside a graphic showcasing the all-genre songs chart for the week of July 19. He reassured his fans by adding, “I’m taking that soon don’t worry one song or another. Rule changes and all.” This message hints at his confidence and determination to reclaim the top position on the charts, indicating that the competitive landscape of the music world is ever-evolving.
Despite landing at No. 2, the impressive debut of “What Did I Miss?” marks a record-extending total of 81 top 10 hits for the 6 God, solidifying his place in music history as he continues to break records. This achievement expands his lead in the Billboard Hot 100 rankings, which have been active for nearly 67 years. Furthermore, the track ascended to No. 1 on several other charts, including Streaming Songs (marking Drake’s record-extending 21st chart-topper), Digital Song Sales (his 15th chart-topper, the highest among male artists), and both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, where he has now established a staggering 31 leaders.
Drake unveiled “What Did I Miss?” just days prior to his highly anticipated three-day headlining performance at the 2025 Wireless Festival. This event showcased an incredible lineup, featuring an R&B-themed night with special guest performances from his OVO labelmate PartyNextDoor, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Giveon, Bryson Tiller, and others. Additionally, there was a UK rap-themed night featuring artists like Skepta, Headie One, Central Cee, and Dave, along with an Afrobeats-and-dancehall-themed night starring Vybz Kartel, Burna Boy, Spice, Rema, and more. On the final night of the festival, Drake teased a forthcoming single with his On the Radar freestyle collaborator Cench, which is set to be released on Friday, July 18.
Billboard reached out to Drake’s representatives for further details regarding the “rule changes” mentioned in his post but did not receive an immediate response. This situation highlights the constant evolution in the music industry and raises curiosity about what changes could influence the chart standings in the future.
