This year, Drake had already graced the stages in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and was anticipated to deliver additional concerts in Auckland along with return performances in Brisbane and Sydney. However, he abruptly cut the tour short, departing for Canada due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts that arose.
Now, Live Nation has confirmed the cancellation of the shows, bringing disappointment to many fans.
In an official statement, the promoter expressed, “Live Nation Australia regrets to inform you that the previously postponed Drake shows in Australia and New Zealand have now been officially cancelled. Despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible. Drake remains committed to returning and performing these shows when his schedule permits.”
Furthermore, the statement noted, “All purchases for the cancelled shows will receive a full refund. Please check your email for detailed information regarding the refund process.”
As of now, Drake has not publicly addressed the cancellation. He is currently focused on his first European tour in six years, a tour that has also faced its own set of postponements.
Recently, he was compelled to cancel one of his sold-out shows in Manchester, England, initially scheduled for Monday, July 28. The announcement regarding the cancellation came just a day prior, leaving fans in disbelief.
The reason provided for this last-minute change was a travel issue, which surprised many given that Drake had successfully performed twice in the city earlier. The rescheduled date for the Manchester performance is now set for August 5, ensuring that fans won’t have to wait long to witness the Canadian superstar live.
A statement from the venue indicated, “Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow’s performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled.”
They also added, “The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it’s set to be an unforgettable night.”
All tickets purchased for the original show will remain valid for the new date, ensuring fans can still enjoy the performance they were eagerly anticipating.
