Excitement is building as production on Ahsoka season 2 commenced earlier this year, and the official Star Wars website has unveiled a captivating first look at Ezra Bridger, portrayed by Eman Esfandi, showcasing a stunning new costume and a freshly shaved face that hints at a transformation in his character arc.
While the specific details of the new season remain under wraps, the explosive finale of the previous season set the groundwork for monumental events. The much-anticipated return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, has re-entered the main Star Wars galaxy, raising the stakes significantly. At the Star Wars Celebration in April, Dave Filoni, the Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, hinted at an abundance of action, stating, “Half of it is a really, really big battle.” He elaborated further, “There’s going to be a war in our Star Wars, like an all-out throw-down.”
In an exciting twist, it has been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will reprise his iconic role as Anakin Skywalker. Filoni also teased the return of Admiral Ackbar, who will face off against Thrawn in a thrilling showdown described as “head-to-head with Thrawn.” In a lighthearted moment, Filoni shared that it “took all my effort” to refrain from incorporating the famous line “It’s a trap!” into the script, humorously noting, “Because I’m like, I can’t do that, that would be so lame.” He added, “Because this guy can’t always get into traps. You’d think he would see it this time.”
Another significant development in the upcoming season is the introduction of a new actor, Rory McCann (Game of Thrones), who will take over the role of Baylan Skoll. The character was originally portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson in the first season of Ahsoka, and his untimely passing just months before the series premiered has left a void. McCann expressed his thoughts on continuing Skoll’s storyline, stating, “I think it’s the right decision to carry on his storyline, not just cut it off.” He added, “We’ve done it before with other things. I hope the fans embrace it and I’ll do my best. I’m just starting now, so I’m just trying to be in the right zone for doing it. It’s pretty bloody exciting. I mean, I remember being a kid with my dad, going to the first one probably in the late ’70s and ’80s. Now I’m training with a lightsaber at night, so it’s pretty exciting.”
As for the release date of the highly anticipated second season, it has yet to be officially announced, but fans should not expect it to premiere until 2026, heightening the anticipation for what promises to be an epic continuation of the Ahsoka saga.
