During the illegal procedure, Foronda allegedly administered an anesthetic using a syringe, which resulted in lidocaine toxicity. This led to the woman going into cardiac arrest, prompting FDNY EMS to rush her to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital. The circumstances surrounding the ambulance call remain unclear, raising questions about the response protocols in such emergency situations.

While the woman is currently receiving legitimate medical care, the criminal complaint associated with this case indicates that her condition is critical. Reports reveal that the 31-year-old female has exhibited “no brain activity” and required intubation. Her identity has not been disclosed to the public, and officials have not provided further updates regarding her health status, leaving many concerned about her fate.

A friend of the victim alerted the authorities about the fraudulent clinic after trying to pick her up and discovering the surgery had gone horribly wrong. Just hours following the botched surgery on March 28, law enforcement tracked Felipe Hoyos Foronda using his vehicle’s license plate as he was en route to John F. Kennedy Airport. With the collaboration of the Port Authority, officials located and apprehended the counterfeit doctor within the airport premises. He was attempting to escape the U.S. to return to Colombia. Police apprehended the 38-year-old as he was about to board a connecting flight to Florida, preventing his escape.
