Faked His Death at 14: Will Forte’s Epic Prank on Mom

Will Forte reflects on a prank that took a dark turn during his childhood.

In a recent episode of Hot Ones, the 54-year-old comedian and actor shared a humorous yet troubling story about his early antics, particularly focusing on how he would often test out his pranks on his unsuspecting parents.

When the charismatic host Sean Evans inquired about the most memorable prank he pulled on his family, Will hesitated and instead opted to reveal the most disastrous one he had executed.

Continue reading to uncover the full story…“I have a really bad one,” Will said with a hint of reluctance. “Ugh. I’m not even sure I should share this.”

After some lighthearted prodding from the host, Will decided to recount the time he attempted to stage his own death when he was just 14 years old.

“It’s pretty awful,” the SNL veteran cautioned. “It’s terrible. You’ll understand why. Please feel free to edit this out.”

“I spotted my mom driving through our neighborhood and thought, ‘This will be hilarious.’ So, I wrote a note on a piece of paper that said, ‘I’m so sorry, Mom,’” Will shared, detailing his creation of a faux suicide note. “I left that note at the front door and then laid down on her bathroom floor as if I had passed away.”

Ultimately, Will‘s mother did not find the prank amusing at all.

“Listening to her scream was absolutely the worst experience! It was truly horrifying,” Will reflected. “I quickly got up and shouted — ‘Mom, I’m just kidding!’”

“Just a little brat, a 14-year-old thinking it’s funny,” he added, shaking his head in disbelief.

Despite the prank’s disastrous outcome, Will mentioned that it imparted a significant lesson to him.

“It really taught me that not everything is humorous. Some things can genuinely hurt people,” Will elaborated. “Looking back at my own work, I do have regrets, but I don’t appreciate comedy that causes harm or ridicules others.”

Currently, Will stars alongside renowned talents such as Tina Fey, Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Marco Calvani in the exciting new Netflix series The Four Seasons. Be sure to watch the trailer to see more of their performances!
