Fallout 5 Update: Exciting Changes Before Season 2 Launch

The anticipation for Fallout 5 has reached a boiling point, and it was only a matter of time before Bethesda officially announced that development has commenced. However, the start of this highly awaited project appears to have been triggered by the unfortunate cancellation of one of Bethesda’s other unannounced ventures.

According to a recent discussion on the Xbox Two Podcast, Windows Central’s Jez Corden has shared insights indicating that Fallout 5 is indeed progressing in its development phase. While the specific Bethesda studio leading this initiative remains undisclosed, historical patterns suggest that it is likely to be Bethesda Game Studios. However, Corden points out that the core team might currently be focused on the Starfield DLC and the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI.

Additionally, Corden reveals that the green light for Fallout 5 was granted following the cancellation of an unannounced MMO project, known by its code name, Blackbird, developed by ZeniMax Online. He explains that the financial burden associated with developing MMOs, along with the fierce competition from established titles like World of Warcraft and The Elder Scrolls Online, led Microsoft to the decision to halt this project.

Corden elaborates, stating, “From what I heard, it was a case of ‘Do we want to sink a ton of money into getting this to a point where it can compete with the established players in the market, or do we want to allocate that investment towards making Fallout 5?’” This highlights the strategic decision-making process behind the scenes.

As with any speculation, it’s prudent to approach this information cautiously. While it appears that Fallout 5 is indeed in the preliminary stages of development, there has been no official confirmation or detailed commentary from either Bethesda or Xbox regarding the project’s status.

Regarding the potential release date for Fallout 5, it might be several years before players have the opportunity to once again escape the confines of a vault. To provide some context, Starfield was officially announced back in 2018 but didn’t see its release until 2023. Similarly, The Elder Scrolls VI was unveiled on the same day but has not provided any significant updates since that announcement.
