The creative energy is palpable in Ali Hazelwood‘s work of art.
Her best-selling romance novel, The Love Hypothesis—which is currently being transformed into a cinematic experience featuring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman—was inspired by a universe far, far away.
Indeed, Hazelwood, a dedicated enthusiast of Star Wars, initially shared her fanfiction story that eventually became a viral sensation on TikTok back in 2018. Drawing inspiration from the 2015 blockbuster The Force Awakens, the first version, titled Head Over Feet, creatively reinterpreted the iconic characters Princess Leia and Han Solo’s son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), alongside Jedi Rey (Daisy Ridley) in a stimulating academic environment.
“I was incredibly passionate about writing fanfiction,” Hazelwood shared with Collider in 2021. “Eventually, I began contemplating the idea of crafting something original as a personal challenge and to explore new creative horizons.”
Interestingly, her current literary agent, Thao Le, discovered some of her work on the fanfiction platform Archive of Our Own (AO3), and reached out to her, convinced that her narratives held the potential to captivate a wide audience.
