It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Phil Robertson, the renowned star of Duck Dynasty, who left this world this past weekend following a courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Phil was an iconic figure not only in the reality television landscape but also in the hearts of millions.
At the age of 79, Phil’s legacy as a beloved father, husband, and grandfather is profound and far-reaching.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” wrote his daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, on Facebook, confirming the heartbreaking news to fans and followers.
This tragic event occurred just days prior to the highly anticipated premiere of the family’s new reality television show, which would have showcased their unique lifestyle and values.
(Instagram)In a heartfelt tribute shared on Instagram the day following Phil’s passing, his granddaughter Sadie Robertson posted a poignant photo that captured the essence of their cherished moments together.
She included a powerful biblical quote, stating, “‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’ – 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV.” Sadie reflected on her time with her grandfather, conveying profound thoughts about his life and faith, saying:
“As I was sitting with Papaw Phil today, I thought about this verse… he has already experienced this on earth—going from dead to alive by the power of Christ. It was his testimony that transformed not only his life but the lives of our family and countless others. Now he is experiencing it in its fullness, fully alive in Christ. The new has come.”
Sadie shared with her followers the last words her grandfather spoke to her, which were filled with encouragement and strength:
“One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!”

Upon announcing Phil’s passing, the Robertson family expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the profound impact he had on so many lives throughout his lifetime.
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been touched by his life saved by grace, his unwavering faith, and his commitment to sharing the Good News of Jesus with all who would listen,” Korie shared on social media, emphasizing their appreciation.
“We are eternally thankful for the time we had with him on this earth and are committed to continuing his legacy of love for God and love for others until we reunite with him again.
“We know that many of you love him and have been deeply affected by his life. We are currently planning a private service, but we will share details soon regarding a public celebration of his remarkable life.”

He disclosed that at that time, Phil was in the “early stage” of this debilitating condition and noted that it had progressed significantly, affecting his overall health.
Jase also shared with his audience that his father was “just not doing well. He’s really struggling,” which highlighted the difficult journey the family was facing.
Despite the challenges presented by Phil’s declining health, Robertson emphasized that he and the family— including his brothers Alan Robertson and Jep Robertson— were rallying together, focusing on positivity and support for one another during this trying time.
“We’re doing the best we can,” Jase explained during an episode of his podcast on April 2. “I think that’s just what you do when faced with hardship.”
May Phil Robertson rest in peace and his legacy live on through the lives he touched.
