Netflix is officially calling in the SEAL Team in its push to add more licensed content for 2026. Amid their current squabble over who will acquire Warner Bros., the streamer has inked a deal with Paramount to bring over three of its biggest shows in the U.S., including the David Boreanaz-led military action drama. Also notably starring CBS’s Fire Country lead Max Thieriot, the series will accompany the Taylor Sheridan-created, Jeremy Renner-led Mayor of Kingstown, which just wrapped its penultimate fourth season back in December, and the controversial Sherlock Holmes series Watson, featuring Morris Chestnut as the good doctor. It’s unclear when in the year they’ll arrive or what seasons will be included, but they represent groundbreaking acquisitions for Netflix, as all were former Paramount+ exclusives.

News of the agreement came out in Tuesday’s fourth-quarter earnings letter, in which Netflix shared it had licensed 20 shows with Paramount and was committed to adding more licensed content throughout 2026. SEAL Team is a major add for dad TV lovers, though. Since its premiere back in 2017, the procedural has been a ratings and streaming favorite, spanning seven seasons before ultimately coming to an end in 2024. Overall, on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an 85% score from audiences, featuring a strong cast that sees the Bones alum Boreanaz and Thieriot joined by Jessica Paré, Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley, and Toni Trucks, among others.

At the center of SEAL Team is Bravo Team, one subgroup of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, which consists of the best the Navy SEALs have to offer. They’re led by Bravo-1, Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes (Boreanaz), through dangerous missions across the globe that often put their lives on the line at a moment’s notice. Through thick and thin, they support each other both on and off the field as they handle the immense personal and professional burden of conducting the most sensitive, high-stakes operations for the U.S. with precision and care. Alas, Thieriot would not make it to the military thriller’s end, as his character, Clay Spenser, was killed off in Season 6, as he moved on to flex his skills as a multitalented actor and creator on Fire Country.
