The album 4 by Foreigner, released in 1981, represented a significant milestone for the band.

Collaborating with producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the British-American rock group achieved their first No. 1 record, which remained at the top for four weeks and produced four Top 40 singles, including the iconic tracks “Urgent,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” and “Juke Box Hero.” To date, it has sold over six million copies in the U.S. and received platinum and gold certifications in ten additional countries.

Current Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson praises the lineup that recorded 4, referring to them as “the real heroes” in the album’s narrative. He notes in the box set’s liner notes that “Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, Rick Wills, and Dennis Elliott’s musical achievements with this album have secured their place among classic rock legends.” He expresses gratitude for being able to enjoy this record for years to come.
