Foreigner’s First Show with Luis Maldonado as Lead Vocalist

The legendary rock band Foreigner kicked off their highly anticipated 2025 South American tour on Monday night, with the talented Luis Maldonado stepping in as the lead vocalist for most of the main set. This performance marked an exciting new chapter for the band, showcasing Maldonado’s impressive vocal abilities and stage presence.

As if the night couldn’t get any better, the original frontman and founding member, Lou Gramm, joined the band on stage for the final four songs of the set, creating a thrilling experience for fans. The combination of Maldonado’s fresh energy alongside Gramm’s iconic voice brought a unique flavor to the evening.

For those eager to relive the moment, videos and the complete setlist from this unforgettable show can be found below, allowing fans to experience the excitement of the concert from the comfort of their homes.

Earlier this year, it was officially announced that Maldonado, who has been a dedicated guitarist for Foreigner since 2021, would be taking over lead vocals for this leg of the tour due to circumstances affecting Kelly Hansen. Hansen, unfortunately, had to limit his appearances outside of the USA this year, which meant he would miss the band’s South American run. He expressed his confidence in Maldonado, stating, “Our incredible bandmate Luis Maldonado has been recording some of our hits in Spanish and will be handling most of the vocals along with Lou Gramm who will be guesting with Foreigner for those shows. I know they will smash it!”

Maldonado took to the stage with remarkable confidence and comfort, performing the opening number, “Double Vision,” and managing the majority of the set on his own until Gramm made a triumphant appearance for the main-set closing song, “Juke Box Hero.”

The duo showcased their vocal synergy on the classic hit “I Want to Know What Love Is,” with Maldonado impressively delivering the opening verse in Spanish, further connecting with the audience. The band’s South American tour is set to continue until the highly anticipated show on May 10 in Sao Paulo.

Following their South American adventure, Foreigner will return to the United States, likely with Hansen back at the mic, starting June 11 in Highland, California. Additionally, the band is preparing for another temporary lead singer change this fall when they head to Canada without Hansen. During this leg, Geordie Brown, known for his role in Juke Box Hero, the Musical, will take over lead vocals, ensuring fans continue to enjoy the rock anthems they love.
