‘Fourth Wing’ Author Rebecca Yarros Teases “Amazing” TV Adaptation Amid ‘Onyx Storm’ Release

Fourth Wing is ready to soar.

After all, author Rebecca Yarros recently revealed a major addition to the television crew: Meredith Averill will breathe life into the romantasy novel adaptation as the showrunner for the Amazon Prime series.

Yarros couldn’t help but gush over the latest update, writing on Instagram Sept. 24, “Welcome to the team, Meredith Averill!”

“Guys, I love everything this wonderful woman has worked on and I’m so excited to have her joining us,” she continued. “What an incredible ensemble of talent we have gathered around the show! Here we go!”

So, what can fans expect from Averill’s vision? Well, she worked as an executive producer on several shows, including Wednesday, The Haunting of Hill House and Jane the Virgin, as well as a producer on The Good Wife.

Fourth Wing—the first of three novels in The Empyrean series—follows Violet Sorrengail as she is ordered by her mother, a general in the military, to become a dragon rider in the Navarre kingdom. The 20-year-old, who was meant to be a scholarly scribe, is pushed to her limits in the harsh world of Basgiath War College as she navigates deadly trials and combat.
