After starring in Frankenstein earlier this year for Guillermo del Toro, Christoph Waltz is set to headline another supernatural thriller that just received an exciting new look. Waltz will star alongside Caleb Landry Jones and Zoë Bleu in Dracula, formerly titled Dracula: A Love Tale. SND films has released a new trailer for Dracula, which is scheduled to hit theaters on February 6 next year. It was written and directed by Luc Besson, and it’s inspired by the renowned Dracula novel by Bram Stoker, which has been adapted into film and television numerous times over the years. This version is expected to be more romantic than others, if the former title is any indication.
The new Dracula movie is set in the 15th century, following a prince who renounces his god after losing his wife, leading him to become Dracula due to a vicious curse. Condemned to wander endlessly, he proves to be no match for either fate or death as he is driven by one wish — to reunite with his true love. The film currently holds an 82% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 17 reviews, so it is subject to change. It does not have a score on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.
Christoph Waltz, a two-time Oscar winner for his roles in Inglourious Basterds and later, Django Unchained, both directed by Quentin Tarantino, has also faced criticism from Tarantino regarding stars such as Paul Dano and Matthew Lillard. Waltz is also well-known for portraying the James Bond villain Ernst Blofeld in the Daniel Craig-led 007 films, and he recently starred in the beloved Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building.
2024 Delivered Another Famous Vampiric Thriller
Almost exactly one year ago, Robert Eggers released his latest film, Nosferatu, which received widespread acclaim. The film earned scores of 85% from critics and 73% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, grossing over $180 million at the box office against a $50 million budget. It was nominated for four Oscars at the 2025 Academy Awards but ultimately did not win any trophies. Lily-Rose Depp stars alongside Nicholas Hoult and Bill Skarsgård. Eggers is currently working on his next movie, Werewolf, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Ineson, set to be released in theaters on Christmas next year.
