The Frasier revival on Paramount+ may have been officially cancelled, yet there’s still hope for the beloved character Frasier Crane to reunite with his long-lost brother, Niles. David Hyde Pierce, who brilliantly portrayed Niles Crane throughout all eleven seasons of the original Frasier series, has expressed his willingness to make a guest appearance if the show finds a new platform. According to Variety, although Pierce declined a full-time role in the reboot, he remains open to dropping by Frasier’s new residence in Boston for a special cameo.

The revival series, which premiered in 2023, enjoyed two seasons before its cancellation by Paramount+ late last year. In this new narrative, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) relocated to Boston to be closer to his son, Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott), a firefighter, following the passing of his father, Martin. The series featured numerous familiar faces from the original, such as Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth), Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe (Dan Butler), and Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris), yet Niles—who was an integral part of Frasier’s life during their Seattle days—has been conspicuously absent. Pierce remarked, “I did not think it would hinge on my participation. I thought it should move on from what we were doing. When Frasier occurred, he didn’t bring the gang from Cheers. It was successful because they made it something different. Creatively, I thought, I have nothing else. I don’t think I’m going to be much fun or be that enthusiastic about returning.” Despite his reluctance to commit to a regular role, he expressed openness to a guest spot: “If there was a reason for me to appear, I’m not against it at all.” This sentiment is reciprocated; last year, Grammer stated that he would welcome Pierce’s return to the reboot at any time.
