Galactus in New Trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps

Marvel Studios has recently unveiled the latest trailer for the eagerly awaited cinematic debut of one of its most beloved franchises — The Fantastic Four. This highly anticipated film features an impressive cast, including Pedro Pascal stepping into the role of Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby portraying Sue Storm, famously the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, recognized as the Human Torch; Ebon Moss-Bachrach taking on the role of Ben Grimm, known as The Thing; and Julia Garner representing the Shalla-Bal version of the Silver Surfer. Additionally, the illustrious Ralph Ineson will portray Galactus, the fearsome Devourer of Worlds. Rounding out the cast are talents such as Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne, contributing to the film’s retro-futuristic aesthetic.

The official synopsis for The Fantastic Four: First Steps provides an enticing glimpse into the storyline: Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, this film introduces Marvel’s First Family—comprising Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing—as they confront their most formidable challenge to date. They must navigate the delicate balance between their heroic responsibilities and the strength of their familial bonds, all while defending Earth from the insatiable Galactus (portrayed by Ralph Ineson) and his mysterious Herald, Silver Surfer (played by Julia Garner). As if Galactus’ plan to consume the entire planet and its inhabitants weren’t dire enough, the stakes become intensely personal for our heroes.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to launch Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is helmed by director Matt Shakman (known for his work on WandaVision) from a screenplay crafted by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Shakman has hinted that this film will offer a unique experience, unlike anything previously seen within the Marvel franchise. He expressed, “It’s different in so many ways,” adding, “I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”
