A Georgia community is reeling after a deadly confrontation in a Target parking lot on Sunday that left Matthew Traywick dead and Tyler Linn in police custody. What started as a routine trip to shop quickly spiraled into tragedy, leaving a family mourning and a community questioning how a simple dispute could end in such violence.

Man Arrested After Savannah Target Shooting Leaves Victim Dead

Police confirmed that 30-year-old Tyler Linn was arrested at the scene and is now facing charges of murder and aggravated assault. Authorities say the confrontation occurred at the Abercorn Street Target around 4:10 p.m., where officers found Traywick suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Linn reportedly stayed at the scene until police arrived.

Family, Employer Mourn Traywick’s Tragic Loss, Launch Fundraiser

Traywick’s former employer, Vaden Automotive, shared their heartbreak on social media. “Matthew was a valued member of the Vaden family for years,” the company wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, and those closest to him during this incredibly difficult time.” Traywick’s family has also launched a GoFundMe to help support them as they navigate this sudden loss.

Parking Dispute Turns Deadly; Shooter Identified As Army Veteran

Savannah officials said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a parking spot. District 6 Alderman Kurtis Purtee explained, “The shooting occurred as a result of an argument over a parking spot.” Mayor Van Johnson added, “No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else, should ever end in the loss of life. This needless, unnecessary violence underscores the daily pain felt by families across our city.”

Authorities also revealed that Linn previously served in the Army, stationed at Hunter Army Airfield as an unmanned aircraft systems repairer until leaving in October 2023 with the rank of specialist. Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing as the city tries to make sense of how a simple dispute turned deadly.
