Get Ready for a Chilling Tale: Courteney Cox Reveals Her Hair-Raising Ghost Encounter
In a surprising revelation, Friends star Courteney Cox shared a spine-tingling ghost story during her appearance on Howard Stern‘s show. The actress recounted a peculiar incident involving a delivery man who rang her doorbell, bringing with him an unexpected and eerie message about her home.
“I answered it, got my package, and he said, ‘Do you know this house is haunted?’” Courteney recounted during a 2022 episode of his SiriusXM show. “And I go, ‘Really? Why?’ He goes, ‘Because there’s someone standing behind you.’ That moment sent chills down my spine, and I thought, ‘Oh s–t.’”
However, this eerie experience was not an isolated incident for Courteney. She also recounted a frightening encounter she had while visiting London, which added to her collection of spooky stories.
“I’d just gotten there,” the Scream alum reflected. “I was feeling a bit jet-lagged, but I wasn’t asleep. I was sitting there, eyes closed, trying to rest when suddenly I was overwhelmed by these frightening faces—old, ghostly faces. I thought to myself, ‘OK, stop, stop, you gotta stop.’ Then, in a surreal moment, I began calling out, ‘Mom? Dad? Auntie Em?’ It was as if these strange apparitions were conjuring memories, and I felt an unsettling presence surrounding me.”
Adding to the strangeness, Courteney reported seeing lights flickering and a plant inexplicably moving, which prompted her to reach out to her partner, Johnny McDaid, for reassurance.
“I was like, ‘Johnny! Wake up! I’m seeing spirits!'” Courteney exclaimed. “He was drifting in and out of sleep, surrounded by waves of confusion. He replied, ‘Courteney, you’re asleep.’ I insisted, ‘No, I just woke you up! How can I be asleep?’ He replied, ‘Well, I’m asleep. There are no ghosts.’ Yet, I was convinced I had witnessed them.”
In the end, Courteney decided to confront the spirits with a polite request.
“I said, ‘Thanks for visiting last night. That was fun. But please do not come back tonight because I need my sleep,’” she shared. “After that, I didn’t see them again.”
