The first trailer for Scream 7 has been released.
Wes Craven’s iconic Scream movie debuted in 1996. Starring Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, the film quickly spawned a franchise that includes Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), Scream 4 (2011), Scream (2022), and Scream VI (2023). Additionally, there was a Scream television series that premiered on MTV in 2015 and ran for three seasons.
Kevin Williamson wrote the scripts for Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4. He is becoming even more involved with the franchise as he directs Scream 7, which is set to arrive in 2026.

What happens in the Scream 7 trailer?
The Scream 7 trailer previews the next entry in the horror franchise featuring Ghostface, with this movie being written by Guy Busick. “When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all,” says the official synopsis.
Campbell returns as Sidney in Scream 7, while Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding also return as Gale Weathers, Dewey Riley, Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Chad Meeks-Martin.
The cast additionally includes Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Asa Germann, McKenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, and Jimmy Tatro.
Originally, the seventh Scream movie was going to be directed by Christopher Landon and was set to see Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega reprise their respective roles as Sam and Tara Carpenter. Spyglass, however, fired Barrera due to her comments on social media regarding the Israel-Hamas War, while Ortega and Landon both exited the project shortly after that. The script then underwent a creative retooling.
In addition to his work on Scream, Williamson wrote I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), The Faculty (1998), Sick (2022), and more. He previously directed Teaching Mrs. Tingle, which was released in 1999.
Scream 7 will be released in United States theaters on February 27, 2026, from Paramount Pictures.
