Glen Powell Joins Anya Taylor-Joy in Upcoming Sci-Fi Movie

Anya Taylor-Joy’s career began more than 10 years ago, starring in ritualistic epics like The Witch, but in the last few years, she’s blossomed into one of the most forceful leading stars in Hollywood. Just last year, she teamed up with Miles Teller for the Apple TV sci-fi hit, The Gorge, which has spent more than 400 days atop streaming charts. Back in 2024, Taylor-Joy also worked with tenured Marvel veteran Chris Hemsworth for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron’s 2015 sci-fi film. In 2023, Taylor-Joy starred in her first and only $1 billion movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. She voices Princess Peach in the animated film, opposite Chris Pratt, who plays Mario.

Considering The Super Mario Bros. Movie made over $1.3 billion at the box office against a $100 million budget, it was a no-brainer for Nintendo to quickly begin work on a sequel. The studio shared the first trailer last year, confirming that it would be released on April 1, almost exactly three years after the premiere of the original film. Now that the film is less than one week away from its global premiere, marketing is in high gear. Yesterday, it was confirmed that popular Star Fox character Fox McCloud would have a role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but it was unclear who would be the voice of the character until today. Glen Powell took to his personal Instagram to confirm that he will provide the voice of Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, releasing next week on October 1. He joins Taylor-Joy, Pratt, Donald Glover, Jack Black, Brie Larson, and a host of other stars in the sci-fi sequel.

Anya Taylor-Joy Has Another Big Sci-Fi Sequel Coming This Year

To close out 2026, Taylor-Joy will reprise her role as Alie Atreides in Dune: Part Three, which has been set for release on December 18. She played the character briefly in a flash-forward scene in Dune: Part Two, but she will feature in a much more prominent role later this year in Denis Villeneuve’s final Dune movie. She was seen in the first trailer for Dune: Part Three, which was released last week mere days after the 2026 Oscars.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of The Super Mario Galaxy movie leading up to and after its release.
