During today’s PlayStation State of Play, IO Interactive formally revealed 007 First Light, the newest James Bond video game. The new trailer gives fans the first look at the studio’s new Bond.
When is the 007 First Light release window?
As seen in the first trailer, 007 First Light looks to be a whole new interpretation of the beloved, long-running spy franchise. It will follow a young James Bond as he begins the MI6 training program. IO Interactive describes this as an “origin story” for its version of the character.

“In 007 First Light, follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy,” reads the game’s description.
Alongside James Bond, 007 First Light will feature other characters from the franchise, including M, Q, and Moneypenny. There will also be new characters, like Greenway, who plays Bond’s mentor throughout the game’s story.
“To have IO Interactive working on a 007 game is an incredible honor,” says Yann Roskell, Senior Communication Manager at IO Interactive. “To be able to harness all the experience and craftsmanship we have been honing for the last 25 years to create a James Bond adventure is a unique journey for the studio, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity.”
007 First Light was originally revealed back in November 2020 as “Project 007.” Not much was known until just a few days ago, when the full title was revealed.
007 First Light is slated to launch for PS5 in 2026. A specific release date was not announced. It will be PS5 Pro Enhanced, utilizing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and a 60 frames per second Quality Mode. Players can wishlist 007 First Light today on the PS Store.
