General Hospital’s Giovanni Mazza on What Gio Really Wants

General Hospital ended up leaving viewers shocked with the parentage secret of Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri, played by Giovanni Mazza. He was revealed to be the estranged son of Dante Falconeri and Brook Lynn. The actor has now opened up on the character’s feelings, revealing what he actually wants.

Here is everything you need to know about the latest interview of Mazza describing his current track on the soap opera.

Giovanni Mazza says Gio wants the ‘honest truth’ in General Hospital

In his latest interview with Soap Opera Digest, Giovanni Mazza opened up on Gio’s latest storyline in General Hospital. Mazza revealed that currently, “Gio is seeking the truth, the honest truth, which is something that Emma, Sonny, and Lulu have brought to him.” He also mentioned how the character ended up learning the truth due to Lulu’s antics, and he is grateful to her.

“There’s no way that I could live without knowing, and I would much rather know the truth than live in ignorant bliss, even though I was a lot happier. Lulu brought that [truth] to him and so he feels like she’s an ally,” he continued.

Mazza further showered praises on Sonny Corinthos and how “he always cared” for Gio despite being unaware that he was his grandfather. He added, “Sonny has become a very important person in Gio’s life because he’s like the one person in his family, his blood family, that he can count on. I think when everybody else is sort of out of sight, out of mind, Sonny is the one person that is there, who stays and continues to care about Gio as if nothing happened.”

The 20-year-old actor also shared how he is looking forward to Gio’s reunion with his maternal grandmother, Lois, who knew about the truth all along. For the unaware, Gio grew up thinking that Lois was just a family friend, and now the real connection has left him hurt. “They had a bond, and now he feels like it wasn’t authentic. Gio feels like, ‘The whole thing was a lie!” Mazza expressed. Meanwhile, Gio is also building trust with his half-brother Rocco. Mazza described him as “innocent and reminds Gio so much of himself that I think they’ll create a really nice bond over time.”
