Following its home video release, Warner Bros. has finally announced the Mickey 17 HBO Max release date for the upcoming global streaming debut of Bong Joon Ho‘s latest sci-fi black comedy. Since its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, the Robert Pattinson-led movie has received a Certified Fresh rating of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 331 reviews. This is a bit low compared to Bong’s acclaimed 2019 movie Parasite’s near-perfect Tomatometer score.
“The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living,” reads the official synopsis.
When is the Mickey 17 Max release date?
Mickey 17 will be available for streaming starting on Friday, May 23, on HBO Max. This will then be followed by its broadcast debut on HBO on Saturday, May 24. The cast also included Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice), Steven Yeun (Beef, Minari), Toni Collette (Hereditary), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame, Poor Things), Holliday Grainger (The Capture), Anamaria Vartolomei (Happening), Thomas Turgoose (This Is England), and more.
The movie was written and directed by Bong Joon Ho (Parasite, Memories of Murder) based on the 2022 novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. This marked Bong’s latest English-language feature after over a decade since directing the Snowpiercer starring Chris Evans. The film was produced by Bong, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dooho Choi, with Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins serving as executive producers.
