What happens in The Ritual trailer?
The Ritual trailer sees Father Theophilus (Pacino) and Father Joseph Steiger (Stevens) attempt to exorcise a demon from a young woman named Emma Schmidt (Abigail Cowen). The movie, which is based on a true story, also stars Ashley Greene, Patricia Heaton, Ritchie Montgomery, and María Camila Giraldo.
“Two priests, one questioning his faith and one reckoning with a troubled past, must put aside their differences to perform a difficult and dangerous exorcism,” the official synopsis for the film reads.
Midell previously said in a statement, “Some have described exorcisms as Rorschach tests: those with a background in faith and religion see a spiritual struggle for the soul of a human being, while those who are more scientifically minded see a person in need of psychiatric assistance. Spiritual or psychological, what cannot be denied is the profound suffering experienced by Emma Schmidt, and the bravery and fortitude required by those who came together to alleviate her suffering.”
The story for The Ritual comes from Midell and Enrico Natale. Natales serves as a producer with Ross Marks, Andrew Stevens, and Mitchell Welch.
Executive producers include Nick Spicer, Aram Tertzakian, Nate Bolotin, Alex Williams, Maxime Cottray, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Tyler Gould, Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, Meadow Williams, Chris Paladino, Tamra Bohorquez, Sharad Chib, Isaac Rosner, Cole Garson, Jordan Wagner, Jeff Holland, and Rick Moore.
The Ritual will be released in United States theaters on June 6, 2025, from XYZ Films.
