Lenny Kravitz is flying high in luxury.
The “Fly Away” singer recently offered a look into his stunning mansion in Paris on Architectural Digest’s Open Door series, and his home—an ode to his late mom Roxie Roker—has a perfect balance of brooding rockstar and sentimental glamour.
“This place is called Hotel de Roxie,” Lenny, 60, began the April 15 video, adding his mom, who died from breast cancer in 1995 at age 66, wanted to live in Paris. “She wanted to retire [here] after doing 11 seasons of The Jeffersons, and she never got to do it. But I’m doing it for both of us. This home is a gift.” His tribute to her continued in his Petit Salon, fittingly called the “Roxie Room.”
The large, brown-toned room has numerous photos of his mom on the wall, each shot secured in a golden frame he sourced from the Louvre Museum in Paris. And when one corner isn’t dedicated to Roxie, the other is filled with collectible items (such as vases and niche art) neatly placed across the room.
According to Lenny—who shares daughter Zoë Kravitz, 36, with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, 57—these pieces help him bring an element of “soul” to the space.
“People ask [me], ‘How do I define my design?’ I call it soulful elegance,” he explained. “It’s being elegant and sophisticated, but with soul. Design and elegance without that feeling is just designer names, but when you’re collecting, it really reflects who you are and where you’ve been.”
And what’s soulful design without nods to his biggest inspirations? In various rooms, the “American Woman” star has portraits of Muhammad Ali, his grandfather Albert Roker, and several pairs of James Brown’s leather boots in his library. While those treasures are timeless, Lenny toured the most gorgeous spot in his Paris abode: his cozy basement club. Yes, an actual club.
The red-lit room, which is tucked away like a speakeasy, has a grungier look compared to the rest of the home. But true to his rockstar prowess, he added a giant disco ball, and of course, a DJ booth, to sell the image.
