In this week’s Chuck’s Fight Club, we are examining one of our favorite hard rock bands, inviting fans to discuss which era of Guns N’ Roses they prefer: the classic era of the ’80s and early ’90s or the new school era that has emerged over the last decade.
On one side, you have the classic era Guns N’ Roses, known for iconic hits like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “Paradise City,” “You Could Be Mine,” and “November Rain,” which led to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This period showcased a powerful rock and roll presence. However, the band eventually fractured, leaving Axl Rose as the only remaining member.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and a reformed lineup now includes the return of Slash and Duff McKagan, alongside key members from the Chinese Democracy era. While fans eagerly await new music, Guns N’ Roses have consistently released impressive tracks since their reunion. Songs like “Absurd,” “Nothin’,” “Hard Skool,” “The General,” and most recently “Atlas” demonstrate that their songwriting abilities remain strong.
As with all battles in Chuck’s Fight Club, Loudwire Nights host Chuck Armstrong will introduce the matchup during the 8 PM hour of Monday’s show. Individual arguments for both eras will be presented on Tuesday and Wednesday, allowing you to continue ranking each. On Friday, votes will be counted, and the higher-ranked era will be featured in a Loudwire Nights rock block during the 8 PM hour.
A reminder: Loudwire Nights with Chuck Armstrong airs nightly starting at 7 PM ET. You can listen anytime, from anywhere right here or by downloading the Loudwire app.
Additionally, check below the voting tool for a rundown of the best solo albums from each classic Guns N’ Roses era member.
