Harley Quinn Joins DC as the New Flash Through the Speed Force

DC just gave Harley Quinn her biggest power-up since her 1992 introduction. Harley Quinn isn’t particularly known for being strong or powerful, but she has proven to be a huge threat to Batman and a long list of heroes and villains. Though she has distanced herself from him, Harley is just as unpredictable and resilient as the Joker.

Harley Quinn is one of the characters who proves that power isn’t all about strength in DC K.O. In the tournament’s first round, Harley outlives contestants as strong as Shazam, Hal Jordan, Blue Beetle, and Batman himself. In DC K.O. #2, Harley outlives sixteen other contestants, who fall while trying to obtain sixteen of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe.

Not only has Harley Quinn earned herself a spot in the next round in the tournament, but she also manages to get her hands on one of the best tools in the whole contest.

As everyone is busy fighting over weapons like the Power Rings, the God Killer Sword, and Bane’s Venom, Guy Gardner sets his sights on the Speed Force ring. Unfortunately, he isn’t the only one. Harley Quinn knocks Guy out with a hammer and grabs the Speed Force ring, wondering what it does. Sparks fly, and DC K.O. #2 moves on, keeping Harley’s new powers a mystery.

With Speed Force abilities, Harley Quinn becomes effectively untouchable, able to dodge and counter any opponent before they realize she has moved. If a regular Harley has survived unscathed so far, a super-fast Harley may be almost impossible to catch. In the King Omega tournament, that alone could give Harley a huge opportunity to win.

Harley Quinn is already one of DC’s most unpredictable fighters. The Speed Force will likely allow her to combine her traditional acrobatics, trick weapons, and general mischief with super speed. Only Jay Garrick and Superman have the raw speed to keep up with her, and even then, they may not be able to catch her.

Several Characters Have Instantly Risen Up DC’s Power Rankings

Harley Quinn had never come close to being as powerful as the slowest of DC’s speedsters until DC K.O. Likewise, Lex Luthor had never gotten his hands on a weapon as dangerous as the Black power rings, and not even Superman himself expected to receive a power-up from the Omega Sanction. Yet, out of ambition or desperation, they have claimed these weapons and enjoyed a taste of their power.

Other characters are going through a similar experience. For example, Captain Atom steals Psycho Pirate’s mask from Supergirl at the last second and Jason Todd grabs the Blue Beetle Scarab before Guy Gardner approaches it. Similarly to Harley Quinn, the Joker survives long enough to gain a massive power-up, taking the Atom’s belt and using it to crush and eat his opponents.

DC K.O.#2 is available now from DC Comics.
