Last week, one of the final precursor ceremonies before the Academy Awards took place, as the best and brightest in Tinseltown arrived at The Actor Awards (formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards). Of the many winners on the night, one of the most deserving was the genius medical drama The Pitt. Not only did the series walk out victorious in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category, but star Noah Wyle also took home the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.
Having only been on air for just over a year, The Pitt‘s rapid rise to the top is frankly remarkable. Halfway through its second season, it feels inevitable that the show is destined to inherit Grey’s Anatomy‘s crown as the must-see medical drama on television for many years. On top of its double win at The Actor Awards, the show has also picked up three Astra TV Awards, three Primetime Emmys, a trio of Critics’ Choice Television Awards, two Golden Globes, and much more.
As the dust settles on its latest set of awards, The Pitt continues claiming accolades by hitting yet another streaming milestone. This past week, The Pitt officially hit 50 days consecutively in the ten most-streamed shows on HBO Max in the U.S. across all Amazon channels. Recorded across a wide spectrum of platforms, this consistent performance is reserved only for the very best and most popular series. A synopsis for The Pitt reads:
“An examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.”

‘The Pitt’ Is Here To Stay
As we edge closer to The Pitt‘s inevitably explosive second season finale, fans can rest assured that the chaos inside the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room isn’t going anywhere. Ahead of the Season 2 premiere, the show was renewed for a third season, with Wyle hinting at the status in a chat with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt:
“We’re just about to go back into the writing room for Season 3. The first thing we do every season is take a lot of meetings with experts on every vector of healthcare we can think of and ask them what should be on TV? And, what would be helpful to the work that they’re doing? We’re just going to begin that process in the next few weeks. From that, we’ll pull our stories and try to hit the nail on the head.”
The Pitt is available to stream on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show.
