Help Put Out an Unreleased Joey Jordison Album Today!

A long-awaited album featuring the late Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison could finally see the light of day, and you have the chance to make it happen. On what would have been Jordison’s 50th birthday, a new Kickstarter campaign was launched to release the only album from Jordison’s former band, Vimic.

Celebrating the Legacy of Vimic

After his departure from Slipknot, Joey Jordison’s remarkable talents were highly sought after, leading him to collaborate on various projects. The first of these was Scar the Martyr, but he also formed a new band called Vimic, which showcased his unique musical vision.

Vimic consisted of talented musicians, including Kalen Chase on vocals, Jed Simon and Kris Norris on guitar, Kyle Konkiel on bass, and Jordison himself on drums. They began working on a studio album with renowned producer Kato Khandwala, with Jordison taking on the role of co-producer.

The band generated significant buzz in the music scene, launching their first single, “Simple Skeletons”, in May 2016. This was quickly followed by a captivating video for “She Sees Everything”, and in June, they released a third track, “My Fate”. Another notable song, “Fail Me (My Temple)”, which featured an appearance by Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, also attracted considerable attention.

“The riffs, lyrics, and drums of Open Your Omen will tell you a lot,” Jordison shared in a 2017 interview with Revolver. “We started this record when I was recovering from my acute transverse myelitis condition. It literally saved me and helped me regain my health. This album motivated me to relearn how to walk and play the drums again. Open Your Omen represents the rebirth of my life.”

The band embarked on a tour, and by mid-2017, discussions began about completing their debut studio album. Unfortunately, progress halted in spring 2018 when Khandwala tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident.

Following this loss, the band members paused their sessions to pursue other musical endeavors. Jordison, in particular, contributed his skills to the band Sinsaenum, while Konkiel joined Bad Wolves.

With Jordison’s passing in 2021, the prospect of reuniting to finish their album seemed increasingly unlikely.

The Unfinished Journey of the Album

As the band diverted their focus to other projects, their album remained in limbo. The untimely death of Jordison further complicated the situation. However, after years of efforts to regain control of the music rights, the Jordison Family Estate now possesses the rights to the anticipated Open Your Omen album, which was originally slated for a 2018 release.

“Joey never did anything small,” the family emphasizes on the official Kickstarter page. “We aim to release this album the way he envisioned it, complete with the designs he passionately created for the CD, double LP, merchandise, and with the support of his fans to create a significant impact upon release.”

Details of the Kickstarter Campaign for the Album Release

“We have included personal items of Joey’s to help raise the necessary funds to manufacture and distribute the physical copies, market the album, and organize a memorable evening as Vimic reunites to honor Joey’s legacy. This event will be filled with iconic drummers playing on Joey’s drum kit, special guests, and untold stories,” the family hints, providing enticing incentives for fans to contribute to the album’s release.
