Henry Cejudo expressed his relief and satisfaction that his decisive actions during a recent hit-and-run incident were instrumental in saving the life of the suspect involved.
The shocking event unfolded on a Friday night in the bustling neighborhood of Phoenix, where the UFC star witnessed a group of young adults recklessly speeding down his street at an alarming speed of approximately 80 MPH, putting everyone nearby at risk.

Cejudo recounted to TMZ Sports on Monday how the vehicle became airborne after crashing into a neighbor’s sprinkler system, leading to a catastrophic crash into another neighbor’s house, causing chaos and concern in the community.
After the vehicle came to a halt, some individuals from the car attempted to flee the scene. However, Cejudo made the choice not to pursue them immediately, fearing that they might be “armed and dangerous.” He later intervened when one of the suspects attacked a neighbor who had tried to confront them.
Cejudo bravely tackled one of the suspects, bringing him to the ground and restraining him by placing his hands behind his back. He humorously mentioned that the individual should be grateful for his intervention, as he believed that if he hadn’t acted, the angry neighbors would have taken matters into their own hands.
Cejudo revealed that two of his neighbors were armed, and they were prepared to take drastic action. At one tense moment, one neighbor even cocked their weapon and yelled, “You move, you’re dead!” indicating the high stakes surrounding the chaos.
“If I hadn’t been there,” Cejudo stated emphatically, “this kid would have lost his life.” His words highlight the critical role he played in diffusing a potentially deadly situation.
The suspect, later identified by police as 22-year-old Angel Cota, was ultimately apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including DUI and assault, reflecting the serious nature of his reckless actions.
“Fortunately, nobody was hurt,” Cejudo remarked, expressing hope that this young man learns a valuable lesson from this incident. He emphasized that real growth often comes from facing consequences and understanding one’s life choices.
