Hollywood Walk of Fame Induction: Keith David’s Reaction

The Golden Rule: He who possesses the gold creates the rules. Although the illustrious stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame aren’t crafted from gold (they’re actually made of bronze and terrazzo), one of our all-time favorite stars, Keith David, is set to receive this prestigious honor… much to his astonishment.

While there exists a formal nomination process for acquiring a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a recent video shared on social media captures Keith David’s sheer disbelief upon learning that he is among the distinguished recipients for the upcoming year. As his name is announced, his jaw drops in shock, he covers his mouth in amazement, and clutches his chest as an enthusiastic celebration erupts offscreen, commemorating this significant milestone in the actor’s illustrious career.

The incredibly prolific Keith David (seriously, this talented actor boasts hundreds of credits to his name) has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry since the late 1970s. He truly made his mark collaborating with John Carpenter, breaking into wider recognition with the iconic 1982 film The Thing, where he portrayed Childs. He would later collaborate again with Carpenter in the cult classic They Live (1988), where he starred alongside Roddy Piper in what remains one of our all-time favorite cult films.

It’s nearly impossible to list even a fraction of Keith David’s extensive film and television credits, but we must highlight notable works such as Platoon, Men at Work, and the beloved series Community. His exceptional voice work is also noteworthy, including roles in Gargoyles, Henry Selick’s animated feature Coraline, the English dub of Princess Mononoke, and the character Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog. He has earned two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, both awarded for his contributions to Ken Burns’ documentaries: The War and Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson. Recently, one of his new projects includes Max’s series Duster (be sure to check out our review linked here).

In addition to Keith David, the elite group of honorees in the film category includes Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, acclaimed director Chris Columbus, Marion Cotillard, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Franco Nero, Deepika Padukone, Molly Ringwald, Stanley Tucci, and posthumously recognized talents Carlo Rambaldi and Tony Scott.

In various other categories, notable figures include Sarah Michelle Gellar, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle for television, Miley Cyrus and Lyle Lovett for music, and Shaquille O’Neal for sports entertainment. Each of these recipients represents excellence in their respective fields, adding to the rich history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
