The bassist of Iron Maiden, Steve Harris, revealed the song he would like to see back in the band’s setlist — and it is not an obscure choice.
In fact, it is one of the most frequently played tracks in the legendary metal band’s discography.
“I like them all! It’s hard to pick one,” said the founding bassist and primary songwriter in an interview with Metal Hammer. “There are certain songs like ‘The Evil That Men Do’ that aren’t currently in the set, and I’d like to play. But we’ve discussed these ideas and haven’t ended up playing them this time.”
Harris added: “But it’s difficult to create a set from any part of our career [and not miss things out]. It’s a nice problem to have, I suppose.”

How Often Have Iron Maiden Played ‘The Evil That Men Do’?
Iron Maiden has performed “The Evil That Men Do” 866 times in concert, making it their 11th most-played song, according to setlist.fm.
The single from Seventh Son of a Seventh Son was a staple during the album’s supporting tour in 1988 and has been included in numerous tours since then. The band last played it in 2019.
For their ongoing Run for Your Lives 50th anniversary tour (which highlights their first nine albums), Iron Maiden has chosen to represent Seventh Son with its epic 10-minute title track and the shorter, more upbeat “The Clairvoyant.” The tour, which began last May, is set to resume this May and continue through the end of the year with dates across Europe and North and South America.
Which Iron Maiden Song Does Bruce Dickinson Want to Retire?
While Harris has his preferences for songs he’d like to see back in the setlist, frontman Bruce Dickinson knows which one he wants to retire: “Remember Tomorrow,” the song sung by Paul Di’Anno from the band’s self-titled debut album.
“If ever Paul owned a song, it’s that one,” Dickinson stated last year. “I can sing it, and I have done. But I think we should leave it with Paul now.”
