James Van Der Beek’s Widow Responds to Eric Dane’s Passing

Kimberly Van Der Beek’s family bond with Eric Dane continues to endure.

Following the Grey’s Anatomy actor’s passing on February 19 at the age of 53, the film producer—whose husband James Van Der Beek died just eight days earlier after battling cancer—shared a heartfelt message for Eric’s estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart, reminiscing about their shared experiences.

In a post on her Instagram Stories dated February 21, Kimberly, 43, shared a nostalgic photo of herself and James on the red carpet alongside Eric and Rebecca, as well as the former couple’s daughters Billie, now 15, and Georgia, now 14. She captioned the picture, “Will miss our guys laughing at Christmas parties together.”

While navigating her own sorrow, Kimberly—mother to six children with the late Dawson’s Creek star—extended a message of support to Rebecca for the journey ahead.

“RIP @realericdane,” she wrote. “We love you @rebeccagayheartdane.”

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress seemed to appreciate the thoughtful gesture, resharing Kimberly’s message on her own Instagram Story with a mending heart emoji and adding, “So much love for you.”
