Although Jane’s Addiction may have concluded their run with the onstage incident in 2024, it seems that three of the band members are eager to continue collaborating.
In the past week, band members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins have posted on social media about spending time in the studio with producer Robert Adam Stevenson.
Three separate posts have hinted at this increased activity. First, Dave Navarro shared a photo on his Instagram of himself with Stevenson in a recording studio, captioned, “Good to reconnect and visit with my old pal @robertadamstevenson.”
Shortly after, another post shared by both Avery and Navarro featured a studio camera focused on a computer as snippets of music played, captioned “The boys.”
Then earlier today (Aug. 20), Navarro, Avery, Perkins, and Stevenson all shared a video of them posing for a photo in the studio, with Navarro‘s comment stating, “Back at it with @ericaveryinsta @stephenperkinsdrummer & @robertadamstevenson.”
What Happened in 2024 and Beyond With Jane’s Addiction?
After bassist Eric Avery‘s return in 2022, Jane’s Addiction began working on new material. By 2024, they had even released “Imminent Redemption,” marking the first song from the core four members in 34 years. However, tensions escalated during their 2024 tour, culminating in an onstage shoving match between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro at their Boston show.

The tour was canceled, additional music was scrapped, and both sides issued public apologies. It appears that Jane’s Addiction is now finished as a band.
Navarro has publicly stated there’s “no chance” of a reunion. Earlier this year, the other three members filed a lawsuit against Farrell, who responded with a lawsuit against his bandmates.
Have Jane’s Addiction’s Members Played Without Farrell Before?
Yes! In 2006, after their third breakup, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and then-bassist Chris Chaney formed The Panic Channel, alongside former MTV VJ and Skycycle vocalist Steve Isaacs. The group released one studio album titled (ONe), which produced the singles “Why Cry” and “Treehouse of the Spirits.” Both singles received modest airplay on alternative and mainstream rock radio, while the album peaked at No. 110 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
The group disbanded after the album’s release and subsequent tour support, while Navarro and Perkins returned to Jane’s Addiction for yet another reunion a year after the release of The Panic Channel.
What Does It Mean?
Until new music is available, it remains uncertain what will happen next. It is significant that Jane’s Addiction already released one song and quietly dropped a second following the onstage altercation. Clearly, the creative dynamic with Avery‘s return for their first new music together in over 30 years was productive.
The fact that these three members are now in the studio together indicates they are not ready to move on from this musical collaboration. However, due to legal issues, any future work will likely be under a different name.
