According to NBC News, the House Oversight Committee convened for a gathering on Thursday, May 16. During the occasion, the outlet notes that the gathering became ?personal attacks and partisan bickering.?
The outlet experiences that issues bought turnt up after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to a query from Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
?I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you?re reading,? Taylor reportedly instructed Crockett.
At that time, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ordered Greene to apologize to Crocket. Ocasio-Cortez referred to as Greene?s assertion ?unacceptable? and cited her for ?attack[ing] the physical appearance of another person.?
Instead of apologizing, Greene reportedly shifted her focus to Ocasio-Cortez.
?Are your feelings hurt?? she requested.
Additionally, Greene insulted Ocasio-Cortez by saying she didn?t have ?enough intelligence? to debate her. Ultimately, Greene refused to abide by Ocasio-Cortez?s request for an apology, saying, ?You will never get an apology out of me.?
From there, Democratic members reportedly requested that Greene apologize for her remark to Crockett. However, it was dominated that Greene ?did not violate House rules against engaging in ?personalities? during debate.?
From there, Crockett determined to take her personal protection into her personal palms.
?I?m just curious, just to better understand your ruling,? she mentioned. ?If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody?s bleach blond, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct??
