However, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #29, it is still referred to as a Byakugan.

This does not confirm that the Jougan is solely an anime feature or a “filler eye.” Nevertheless, this alongside the flashforward from episode #1/chapter #1 suggests that three years later, even with Momoshiki’s Kāma, he still identifies his eye as the Byakugan. With only episodes like #15, #65, and #125 providing hints, hope remains alive but unverified by Ikemoto and Kishimoto.

Until Kishimoto or Ikemoto clarify otherwise, it is exciting enough to see Naruto’s family utilizing the Byakugan or potentially a Jougan. However, endlessly speculating on its existence and misquoting interviews does not lead to any productive outcomes.

The ongoing debate regarding “canon” status primarily exists between anime-only viewers and confused manga fans who find no written references to the eye. Despite Boruto: Two Blue Vortex showcasing some incredible abilities of its main characters, the Jougan has yet to become a point of interest. Until it is definitively addressed, this Boruto debate remains somewhat alive.
