Katherine Short Dead at 42, Daughter of Martin Short

Content warning: This story discusses suicide.

Martin Short is enduring an unimaginable tragedy.

Katherine Short, the Only Murders in the Building star’s only daughter with late wife Nancy Dolman, has passed away at the age of 42.

“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” Martin’s representative stated in a Feb. 24 announcement to The Hollywood Reporter. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and requests privacy at this time. Katherine was cherished by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Katherine died by apparent suicide, according to law enforcement sources who informed TMZ, with the Los Angeles Police Department responding to her Hollywood Hills residence on Feb. 24.

E! News has reached out to Martin for a comment but has not received a response.

Katherine was the eldest of Martin and Nancy’s three children, preceding younger brothers Oliver Short, 39, and Henry Short, 36. Her passing comes 15 years after Nancy, an actress and singer, succumbed to ovarian cancer at age 58.
