Timothée Chalamet Loves Kylie, KPop Demon Hunters Wins: Critics Choice Awards 2026 Must-See Moments
Kathy Bates shines in live TV spontaneity.
The Matlock star was completely on board when 2026 Critics Choice Awards host Chelsea Handler referenced a spicy scene in Marty Supreme featuring Timothée Chalamet—who won the award for Best Actor for his performance in the sports drama—and a ping pong paddle.
“Someone in this room has a ping pong paddle under their seat,” Chelsea announced to the audience at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., during the Jan. 4 ceremony airing on E! and USA Network. “Whoever has it gets to spank Timothée at the afterparty tonight.”
Shortly after, Kathy, 77, appeared onscreen holding the paddle up to her face and licking it several times while looking into the camera. However, after fully committing to the comedic moment, she quickly seemed to reconsider her actions.
“So gross,” she exclaimed from her seat. “I can’t believe I did that!”
