Katy Perry’s Passionate Speech on LA’s Influence at Concert

Katy Perry recently delivered an electrifying performance during her Lifetimes Tour, captivating the Los Angeles audience with a heartfelt speech that highlighted how this vibrant city has profoundly influenced her life and musical career.

The pop superstar, now 40 years old, entertained a sold-out crowd at the Kia Forum on Tuesday night (July 15), with the event graced by numerous special guests who added to the excitement of the evening.

“You know it’s going to be a fantastic show. You can feel it because I got to sleep in my own bed! I even treated myself to my favorite breakfast burrito from Dialog Cafe!” Katy enthusiastically shared with her fans at the outset of her engaging five-minute speech.

“It’s such an honor and privilege that you’ve chosen to spend your Tuesday night with me. Who would have thought that a Tuesday, often seen as the most underrated night of the week, could see The Forum filled to the brim? “It’s been eight long years since I’ve embarked on a proper tour, and some of you here tonight are literally eight years old, so welcome to a genuine pop concert, tiny humans! This city is my absolute favorite place to perform because so many beloved faces are present tonight, showering me with love, and I’m sending that energy right back at you. A special shout-out to my family, best friends, business partners, my ear-nose-and-throat doctor, my dog groomer, and my gynecologist—welcome to the show!” Katy said, radiating warmth and appreciation.

Katy pointed out that her parents had the best seats available, making the night even more special.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for always covering my overdraft fees since I moved here. When I arrived in L.A. at the age of 17, there was that one time I met up with some glamorous friends at Chateau Marmont, and I simply couldn’t afford the valet parking. I parked a mile away, joined them for dinner, ordered just a side salad and water, and then someone suggested we split the bill. Naturally, I found myself in the bathroom, tears streaming down my face as my debit card was declined. But look at us now, Mom and Dad! We’re ordering appetizers, entrees, and desserts together!” Katy reflected with a laugh.

Katy elaborated on her turbulent journey through the music industry, discussing her experiences of being signed and dropped by multiple record labels, lending her vocals to Miley Cyrus, and living off Trader Joe’s chicken fingers during the tough times.

“No matter how challenging it became, nothing could extinguish my dream. I didn’t care about the negativity directed towards me back then, and I still don’t care now! I have always possessed the eye of the tiger, and somewhere along this journey, I discovered another chosen family,” she reflected before naming her closest friends.

Katy acknowledged the unwavering support she received from the gay community during the early stages of her career, dedicating her iconic hit “I Kissed a Girl” to her loyal LGBTQ fans.

Catch Katy on her Lifetimes Tour, which continues through the end of the year, as she shares her music and passion with audiences around the country!
