Keion White Shot in Ankle, Undergoing Surgery Post-Super Bowl

Keion White is recovering.

Hours after attending the 2026 Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers defensive end was shot and taken to the hospital, according to his team.

“Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco,” the NFL team shared in a Feb. 9 statement. “He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide further updates when appropriate.”

White was shot around 4 a.m. on Mission Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Though investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument, they do not believe White, 27, was part of the disagreement.

“A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business,” authorities told CBS Sports. “The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect.”

The police department’s spokesman Evan Semoffsky also told The New York Times, “Our officers are working diligently on this investigation and we’re following multiple leads.”
