Kesha is excited to announce the launch of her groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering music creators.
The 38-year-old pop sensation, known for her hit single “Joyride,” revealed SMASH on Thursday (May 22). This innovative community platform is designed specifically for music creators, providing them with a space to connect, collaborate, and hire each other based on their own terms while retaining full rights to their creations.
Co-founded by Kesha, along with industry experts Alan Cannistraro and Lagan Sebert, and supported by a team of seasoned professionals from both the music industry and technology sectors, SMASH aspires to grant creators the access they need to a professional network that fosters incredible music production without the burden of forfeiting their rights just to enter the industry.
“My mission is to transform the power dynamics within the music-making business to favor the creators,” expresses Kesha.
“At the age of 18, I entered into a predatory contract and spent over a decade battling to reclaim control over my voice and image. Once I finally achieved my freedom, I realized that the struggle was far from over. I am determined to ensure that what I experienced never happens to anyone else again.”
To celebrate the launch of SMASH, Kesha is inviting fellow creators to participate in an exclusive remix challenge for her new single, “BOY CRAZY.” Fans can register at smashmusic.io, where they will receive the stems for “BOY CRAZY.” They will have one week to create their unique interpretation of the song. The standout remix will be personally chosen by Kesha and will be officially released under Kesha Records later this summer, providing a fantastic opportunity for emerging talents.
In recent interviews, Kesha has also opened up about her current relationship status, shedding light on her personal life.
