Explore the Journey of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s Relationship

Kevin Bacon has cherished over three decades of marriage to his beloved wife, Kyra Sedgwick. Their romantic journey, however, didn’t commence with an immediate spark of chemistry. During his recent visit to The Drew Barrymore Show on April 7, Bacon shared a reflective account of their unique first encounter, illustrating how sometimes love takes time to blossom.

Their official meeting occurred on the set of the film Lemon Sky in 1988. However, Sedgwick recounted that they had crossed paths much earlier in life. At that time, a young Bacon, just 19 years old, was engrossed in Off-Broadway productions, while a 12-year-old Sedgwick was nurturing her dreams of becoming a successful actress. Her mother, who was acquainted with Bacon’s theater work, took her to witness one of his performances, which would eventually become a charming anecdote in their love story.

After enjoying the show, Sedgwick spotted Bacon at a nearby deli and couldn’t resist complimenting him on his performance. In a humorous recollection, Bacon shared, “This 12-year-old girl came up and said, ‘Hi, I liked you in the play.’ And, according to her, I responded, ‘Thanks, sweetie.’ You know, kind of misogynistic.” This light-hearted memory illustrates the innocence of youth and the humorous misunderstandings that can occur in early interactions.

Fast forward to years later, while filming Lemon Sky, Sedgwick brought up that memorable encounter, asking Bacon if he remembered meeting her as a child. In a playful exchange, Bacon admitted, “And I went, ‘Yeah I do remember that.’ And she went, ‘Really?’ And I responded, ‘No.’” This funny revelation highlights that their journey to love was not instantaneous, as Bacon humorously noted, “So she did not like me. It was not love at first sight.”

Despite their awkward beginning, a genuine connection blossomed between the two during the filming process. By the end of 1988, they had made the beautiful decision to marry, embarking on a life together filled with love, creativity, and family. Today, they are proud parents of two wonderful children, Travis and Sosie, who continue to be a source of joy and inspiration in their lives.
