Knives Out 3 Newcomer Shares Experience in Star-Studded Franchise

The Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star discusses joining the Daniel Craig-led franchise in the third film. Set to hit theaters in November and available on Netflix’s streaming platform on December 12, this movie marks the third installment in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out series.

With each installment in the franchise presenting a self-contained murder mystery, each also introduces a completely new cast to portray the fresh group of suspects. Previously, the franchise has notably featured Hollywood A-listers such as Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Ethan Hawke, Hugh Grant, Jackie Hoffman, Ana de Armas, and Chris Evans.

Focusing on a new mystery, Wake Up Dead Man features a new ensemble cast, including Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, and many others. The James Bond actor is the only returning cast member to reprise his role as private investigator Benoit Blanc.

In an interview with ScreenRant at the Toronto International Film Festival, Twisters star Daryl McCormack shared his experience joining the Knives Out universe. He discussed how each film offers its “unique take and touch” and the significance of working with “massive A-listers” early in his career. Check out his comment below:

I think, you know, the kind of aura that has been set up with these casts that come in every film and knowing that each film has its kind of unique take and touch. But really, like, at the early part of my career, to be surrounded by these massive A-listers. I think I was really grateful and glad that Rian [Johnson] would invite me in and trust me to play my part.

Despite featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, McCormack described the filming experience as “summer camp,” where he created many fond memories. Read his comment below:

Set life was so easy. I think it’s been said quite a bit of the last day that it’s amazing to see these amazing big actors and yet this environment feels like–I think Mila Kunis said–it’s like summer camp. It feels like summer camp.

There’s the byproduct that we’re making a movie together, but some of my fondest memories have been just hanging out in the green room.

I think even Josh Brolin and Glenn Close, who have been working for a long time, even they said there’s something special about our time together on this.
