KPop Demon Hunters Tops 2025 Soundtrack Charts

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack has impressively ascended from the 8th to the 3rd position in its second week on the prestigious Billboard 200 albums chart, as of July 12, marking it as the highest-charting soundtrack of the year 2025. Previously, the soundtrack for Wicked had a notable performance, peaking at No. 4 in January after an impressive debut at No. 2 in December 2024. This surge not only highlights the soundtrack‘s popularity but also reflects the growing influence of animated features in the music industry.

Moreover, KPop Demon Hunters has now established itself as the highest-charting soundtrack associated with an animated film since Encanto maintained an impressive nine-week reign at No. 1 in 2022. This achievement underscores the soundtrack’s significant impact and the continuing trend of animated movies producing chart-topping music that resonates with a diverse audience.

The much-anticipated KPop Demon Hunters premiered on June 20 on Netflix, coinciding with the release of its accompanying soundtrack. In the tracking week concluding on June 29, the film experienced a remarkable leap from the 6th to the 2nd spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies in the United States chart, showcasing its growing popularity and viewer engagement.

The Billboard 200 chart is a key indicator, ranking the most popular albums in the U.S. based on a multi-metric consumption model, which is measured in equivalent album units compiled by Luminate. These units encompass various factors such as album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit is equivalent to one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported streams or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand streams generated by songs from the album. The complete chart for July 12, 2025, will be available on Billboard’s website on July 8.

In the tracking week ending July 3, the KPop Demon Hunters album achieved an impressive total of 62,000 equivalent album units, reflecting a remarkable 97% increase, according to the data from Luminate. Within this total, SEA units accounted for 56,000, representing a significant 108% increase, which translates to an astounding 77.42 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs. This surge allowed the soundtrack to climb from 10th to 2nd place on the Top Streaming Albums chart. Additionally, album sales reached 4,500 units (up 31%, dropping from 18th to 22nd on the Top Album Sales), while TEA units totaled 1,500 (up 24%).

The impressive figure of 77.42 million streams for the album’s songs marks the largest streaming week for a soundtrack in nearly two years. The last comparable achievement was seen with the Barbie soundtrack, which garnered 79.32 million streams on the August 19, 2023-dated chart during its third week of release. This places KPop Demon Hunters in a prominent position within the music industry, showcasing the growing trend of soundtracks from animated films capturing significant attention and engagement.
