KPop Demon Hunters is currently the most popular show on Netflix, and it has now also claimed the title of the most popular album in Australia for 2025.
The soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters has achieved seven consecutive weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, marking the longest reign by any album this year.
On the ARIA Singles Chart, the soundtrack hit “Golden” maintains its top position for the fifth consecutive week and is one of the songs from KPop Demon Hunters featured in the top 10.
This week, Netflix revealed that the animated action/musical has garnered over 236 million views since its premiere on June 20, surpassing Red Notice to become the most-watched English-language film on the streaming platform.
Laufey leads the new entries on the ARIA Chart, published Friday, Aug. 29, with A Matter of Time debuting at No. 2, marking the classical-adjacent artist’s best performance in Australia.
Deftones secure third place with Private Music, their tenth studio album, which debuts at No. 3 for their sixth appearance in the ARIA Top 20.
Royel Otis achieves their second consecutive top 10 entry with Hickey, which opens at No. 5. This marks a career best for the Sydney duo of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, following their previous peak at No. 10 with Pratts & Pain, which won four ARIA Awards including best rock album and best group.
Hickey features “Moody,” which reached No. 1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart last month, marking their first leader on a Billboard chart. “Moody” surpassed their cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” which peaked at No. 2 on Alternative Airplay in July 2024.
Another act with Australian ties, Stray Kids debut at No. 4 with Karma, marking their sixth top 10 appearance in Australia. Their previous entries include Maxident (No. 4 in 2022), 5-Star (No. 2 in 2023), Rock-Star (No. 2 in 2023), Ate (No. 2 in 2024), and Hop (No. 4 in 2024). Band member Felix was born and raised in Sydney, while Bang Chan was born in Seoul but also grew up in Sydney.
U.S. country artist Lainey Wilson achieves a new chart peak with Whirlwind, entering at No. 8 following the release of a deluxe edition; it previously reached No. 19 in August 2024.
Tyler, The Creator’s CHERRY BOMB reaches a new peak at No. 10, surpassing its previous best of No. 13 achieved in 2015. Tyler is currently touring Australia and New Zealand as part of his Chromakopia tour produced by Frontier Touring and recently opened a flagship GOLF store in Sydney.
Further down the list, British indie rock band Wolf Alice debuts at No. 14 with Clearing, their fourth album, while Bleak Squad, a Melbourne-based supergroup featuring Mick Turner (Dirty Three), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Adalita (Magic Dirt), and Marty Brown (Art of Fighting) enters at No. 40 with their first album, Strange Love.
The top debut on the ARIA Singles Chart belongs to Doja Cat, whose “Jealous Type” jumps in at No. 28. This marks Doja’s sixteenth top 50 hit as either a solo or featured artist on the ARIA Chart, including “Paint The Town Red,” which spent ten weeks at No. 1 in 2023.
